ABOUT · ANDRII GUDZ

I build digital products with an understanding of business, projects and people.

Hi, I’m Andrii — an independent developer based in the Bamberg region. Before I started building digital products myself, I spent many years working with businesses, clients and web teams. That experience helps me look at every project from a broader perspective: not only understanding the technical side, but also the business goal, the client’s needs and what the final result should achieve.

01 · THE BEGINNING

“My journey into the web started from the business side.”

I started working with web projects long before I became a developer myself. Running my own online stores pushed me to understand how websites are built, how people find them through search and advertising, and how a website should help a business become more visible, clearer to customers and more effective.

01

First online store · Bed linen

My first practical experience on the web. The store was built with a website builder, so I had to learn how to configure it, structure the catalogue, present products, improve search visibility and run online advertising.

02

Online store for sanitary products

The next online store was developed by a professional web studio. For the first time, I was on the client side of a full web development project: defining requirements, preparing specifications, coordinating tasks with developers and later managing advertising and promotion for the finished project.

02 · CLIENT & TEAM EXPERIENCE

I learned to see web projects from different perspectives long before I started writing the code myself.

At Simbioz Holding in Kyiv, my role began with client work and project promotion and gradually grew into leading the internal web team. That gave me practical experience not only in project management, but also in connecting client needs, team execution and the final result.

01 / Team & delivery

Team & delivery

I organised the work of a small web team of around five people — designers, frontend and backend developers — and also collaborated with analysts. My role was not simply to distribute tasks, but to guide projects toward a clear and completed result.

02 / Client & business

Client & business

I worked directly with clients: discussing goals, gathering requirements, preparing specifications, aligning solutions and helping translate business objectives into concrete tasks for the team.

03 / Marketing & growth

Marketing & growth

At the same time, I worked on promoting both client projects and the company itself through SEO, advertising campaigns, content, analytics and performance evaluation. That experience still helps me see a website not only as a technical product, but as a business tool.

03 · THE MOVE INTO DEVELOPMENT

From managing web projects to building them myself.

After many years of working closely with web development, I increasingly wanted to understand not only what needed to be built, but how it actually worked under the surface. At some point, it became important to me to be able to turn an idea into a working digital product myself — from the interface to the technical implementation.

01

Understand how things work

I wanted to understand the technical side of digital products more deeply: how architecture is structured, how frontend and backend work together, and what affects performance, responsiveness and reliability.

02

Build things myself

I wanted not only to define tasks for a team, but also to be able to implement an idea myself: design the interface, write the code, connect the different parts of the product and bring it to a working result.

03

Build professional independence

It was important to me to develop a profession that was not tied to one specific location and that I could continue even when life circumstances changed. Development gave me that freedom and the opportunity to work more independently.

04 · A NEW CHAPTER IN GERMANY

A new life in Germany and a new professional chapter.

In 2023, my wife, our three sons and I moved from Kyiv to Germany because of the war. For our family, the priority was to move the children farther away from the war and begin a new chapter in a safer environment.

Germany has since become our new home. For me, this period was not only about integration and progressing in German from the first steps to B2, but also about serious professional development here in Germany. I completed around 1120 hours of practical Full-Stack training with AIT TR GmbH in Berlin, continued developing my frontend experience and gradually laid the foundation for my own business.

05 · WORKING TOGETHER & FAMILY BUSINESS

We are gradually building this business together.

Andrii & Olha Gudz — Development, Client Communication & Project Support

I handle the technical side of the projects, while my wife Olha supports me with communication and organisation — especially when working with German-speaking clients. For us, this is not just temporary help, but a shared business that is gradually growing together with us.

Over time, we want her role to grow further into client communication, project coordination, communication support and other areas where organisation, empathy and a good visual sense matter.

06 · PHILOSOPHY & APPROACH

“I like seeing an idea become a real result.”

I’m naturally very visual, so I care about how an interface looks and how easy it is to use. But what I enjoy most is the moment when an idea turns into a working product, solves a real problem and creates genuine value for the person it was built for.

01 / VISUAL THINKING

Visual thinking

An interface should not only look good, but also be easy to understand. I try to look at it through the user’s eyes: what they notice first, what they understand and how easily they can take the next step.

02 / SOLVING THE REAL PROBLEM

Solving the real problem

For me, the goal of a project is not simply to write code or create a beautiful screen. What matters is understanding the real business problem and finding a solution that actually works in practice.

03 / RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RESULT

Responsibility for the result

I like being involved throughout the whole journey of a project — from the first conversation and idea to launch and further improvements. Working directly with the client helps keep the real purpose of the project clear and allows me to take responsibility for the final result.

07 · BEYOND WORK

Not only behind a screen.

When I’m not working on digital products, you’ll often find me on a volleyball court or at a table-tennis table. Sport has become more than just a hobby for me — it has also been one of the most natural ways to meet people, become part of the local community and feel at home in the Bamberg region.
